They have three discs, one coupled to the input, one coupled to the output, and a centre disc that is joined to the first two by tongue and grooves. This type of coupling is ideal for applications where it is difficult to move shafts to allow the coupling to be installed. The centre disk can be fitted after the hubs have been assembled and aligned.
